Course Description

The Mt. Kearsarge Hill Climb includes two divisions: an 8 mile climb from the Town of Warner to the Mt. Kearsarge summit parking lot (the "Summit" division), including a 3.5 mile segment with an 8.7% average grade and 1,738’ rise, and a 4.5 mile climb (the “Rotary” division) from the same starting point to the access road leading to the summit parking lot.The first segment includes some level and downhill sections.


This is race 10 of 11 in the BUMPS Northeast Hill Climb Championship Series.


Helmets are mandatory for both the Summit and Rotary divisions. Participants finishing at the summit parking lot (Summit division) will descend by car or via a controlled group descent, following the completion of their climb.


Categories & Prizes

Prizes: Cash prizes will be awarded to the overall top 3 men and women finishers in the Summit category: 1st Place $150, 2nd Place $100, 3rd Place $50. Prizes will also be awarded to the top finishers in each age category in both the Summit and Rotary divisions.


Age Categories: Men & Women: 15-17, 18-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+, Tandem, Clydesdale & Filly (age as of 12/31/13)

The Dennise Maslakowski $500 Prime

for the First "Summit" Rider to the Access Road Rotary
(approx. 4.5 miles) - winner must finish the race within 60 minutes.


Prizes will be awarded at the registration site following the race.

Schedule & Details

  • Race day registration and number pick up opens at 6:30 AM
  • Course is open to cars driving to the summit parking area finish from 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM. The course will close to traffic to the summit parking area promptly at 8:00 AM
  • Drop bags (with clothes, water bottles, etc.) may be left at the registration table by 8:00 AM to be transported to the Rotary and Summit finish lines, respectively
  • Race starts promptly at 8:30 AM with waves (based on age categories, which may be combined) going off at 3 minute intervals
  • No riders or vehicles will be allowed down the course of the Summit division until the last rider has finished (approx. 10:00 AM)

Registration limited to the first 250 participants; online registration closes at 5:00 PM on September 25, 2013.


Registration Fee:

For the Summit division: $50 until 9/25 (under age 18, $25); $75 on race day.
Tandem Fee: $60 until 9/25; $85 on race day.


For the Rotary division: $15 until 9/25; $25 on race day.
Tandem Fee: $25 until 9/25; $40 on race day.


Participants will receive a free race t-shirt

RACE DAY DISCLAIMER/CANCELLATION POLICY:
 We will delay the start time and/or postpone or cancel the race if the following conditions are reported on the road or summit on the morning of the event: high winds or hard driving rain or anything that has the potential for an unsafe event. We will stop the race if conditions are deemed unsafe for the riders in the race. We will not cancel the race for “uncomfortable” conditions.

From I-89 south, take Exit 9, proceed to center of Town; proceed .7 miles on Kearsarge Mountain Road and follow signs to registration site.


From I-89 north, take Exit 9, proceed to center of Town; proceed .7 miles on Kearsarge Mountain Road and follow signs to registration site.


Parking at the summit finish accessible prior to 8:00 AM (no vehicles thereafter).

The Concord Holiday Inn (603-224-9534) is offering a $60 reduction in its standard $139 per night rate for participants in the Hill Climb. Rooms at the Inn will be available for reservations made by September 14, at the rate of $79/room (plus tax) for 1-2 people who indentify that they are coming to Concord for the event.
