On behalf of the Hopkinton NH Rotary Club, thanks to each of you for your participation in the second annual BUMPS Mt. Kearsarge Hill Climb. We again were blessed with perfect weather, and hope that each of you enjoyed the event as much we Rotarians enjoyed staging it. We hope to see each of you at "MKHC 2015" next September.

Course Description

The Mt. Kearsarge Hill Climb includes two divisions: (1) an 8 mile climb from the Town of Warner to the Mt. Kearsarge summit parking lot (the "Summit" division), including a 3.5 mile segment with an 8.7% average grade and 1,738’ rise, and (2) a 4.5 mile climb (the “Rotary” division) from the same starting point to the access road leading to the summit parking lot.The first segment of each division includes some level and downhill sections.

This is a race in the BUMPS Northeast Hill Climb Championship Series.

Helmets are mandatory for both the Summit and Rotary divisions. Participants finishing at the summit parking lot (Summit division) will descend by car or via a controlled group descent, following completion of the climb.

Categories & Prizes

Prizes: Cash prizes will be awarded to the overall top 3 men and women finishers in the Summit category: 1st Place $250, 2nd Place $150, 3rd Place $75, Tandem $250. Prizes will also be awarded to the top finishers in each age category in both the Summit and Rotary divisions.

Age Categories: Men & Women: 15-17, 18-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+, Tandem, Unicycle, Clydesdale & Filly (age as of 12/31/14)

The Dennise Maslakowski Prime

$200 to each of the first two "Summit" riders (Man, Woman) to reach the 4.5 mile point summit access rotary (must finish the climb within 60 minutes).

Just Added!

Through the generosity of one of the MKHC’s principal sponsors, S&W Sport Shop, the Hopkinton Rotary Club will raffle off a Cervelo R-3 (carbon) 10-speed road bike (MSRP: $2,100) following the 2014 Hill Climb. Each pre-registered participant will receive a free raffle ticket; additional tickets may be purchased at the event. The number of tickets to be distributed or sold will be limited to 250. The drawing for the bike will take place immediately following the award ceremony. The lucky winner must be present in person, failing which a second (and further, if necessary) drawing will be made.



Schedule & Details

  • Race day registration and number pick up opens at 6:30 AM
  • Course is open to cars driving to the summit parking area finish from 6:30 AM – 7:45 AM. The course will close to traffic to the summit parking area promptly at 7:45 AM
  • Drop bags (with clothes, water bottles, etc.) may be left at the registration table by 7:30 AM to be transported to the Rotary and Summit finish lines.
  • Race starts promptly at 8:00 AM with waves going off at 2-minute intervals
  • No riders or vehicles will be allowed down the course of the Summit division until the last rider has finished (approx. 9:15 AM)

Registration limited to the first 250 participants; online registration closes at midnight September 24, 2014.

Registration Fee (includes light lunch):

For the Summit division:
$60 until 9/24 (under age 18, $25); $80 on race day.

Tandem Fee:

$60 until 9/24; $85 on race day.

For the Rotary division:
$15 until 9/24; $25 on race day.

Tandem Fee:
$25 until 9/24; $40 on race day.

Participants will receive a free race t-shirt

 We will delay the start time and/or postpone or cancel the race if the following conditions are reported on the road or summit on the morning of the event: high winds or hard driving rain or anything that has the potential for an unsafe event. We will stop the race if conditions are deemed unsafe for the riders in the race. We will not cancel the race for “uncomfortable” conditions.

From south on I-89, take Exit 8 to center of Town; proceed .7 miles on Kearsarge Mountain Road and follow signs to registration site.

From north on I-89, take Exit 9 to center of Town; proceed .7 miles on Kearsarge Mountain Road and follow signs to registration site.

Parking at the summit finish will be accessible prior to 7:45 AM (no vehicles thereafter).
